Happy New Year, Space Cats!
The crew’s quarters may still be swagged with tinsel and baubles but that sound you hear is the engine room powering up. This week we’ve been poring over star charts as we plot our course for 2023. And here’s a few juicy kibbles of news to share.

January Sale
As the rain closes in and days merge into night, why not curl up with some star-struck reads? We’re into a second print run of our unearthly anthology on Aliens & Otherness theme, SEVERED SOULS. And this month we open our docking hatch for a January Sale stacked with bargains. Between Friday 6th January and Friday 27th January, you can bag TWO of our paperbacks for £14 or THREE books for £20 (saving a whopping £4!) And our ebooks are still only £2.50 a go.

To enjoy some tasters, pop over to our You-Tube channel to hear short readings from our lovely #SpaceCatStar authors.
Speaking with the Stars
And while you’re over there, catch our series of interviews about the Severed Souls anthology. Editor Siobhan Logan chats to some of the authors about Aliens, Otherness and who or what might be watching us from space. Space Cat are releasing one of these interviews each week throughout January. We start with Ivan Richardson who had thoughtful things to say about living the Outsider experience, the enduring appeal of fictional Aliens & walking back from a dream precipice into a story. ‘What if you were an alien sleeper waiting for “your people” to come pick you up?’

Dates for your Diary
This year Space Cat will be on the move, transporting our bookstall to fairs, conventions and other outlets. Whether it’s a handy app on your phone or an analogue calendar featuring space kitties in too cute poses, make sure you circle these key dates for 2023. You can find us at the following on-world venues:
March 18th 2023: States of Independence DMU States 2023 is a wonderful regional publishing fair for indie presses, held at De Montfort University every year. Co-hosted by DMU’s Centre for Creative Writing and their industry partner, Dahlia Books, this ‘Book Festival In a Day’ on Sat. 18th March 2023 will be open to the public and FREE to all. Space Cat Press is delighted to be back at States this year with a bookstall.
April 7th – 10th 2023: Eastercon 2023 Conversation We are also thrilled to be joining the annual British National Science Fiction Convention in Birmingham UK for a weekend of panels, workshops, talks, quizzes, competitions and much more SFF fun. Find us in the Dealers’ Room or hanging out at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. It’s our first ever Eastercon and we’re already fizzing with excitement…
July 8th 2023: Edgelit, Derby QUAD This fabulous regional convention has been out of action for four years due to the pandemic. But thankfully, the Edgelit team are staging a comeback for all fans of Horror, Thriller, Fantasy and Science-Fiction writing. It’s a really accessible and welcoming convention. That’s one-day only at Derby’s QUAD on the 8 July 2023 from 10am to 5pm. Space Cat Press will bring our star-struck bookstall. And as luck would have it, that Saturday is our fourth birthday so we’ll be in the mood to celebrate …

Well, that’s all for now, folks. You might note our submission porthole is currently closed. We’re too busy sprucing up the ship for these forthcoming ventures. But if you sign up for our newsletter, you can catch an early transmission about 2023 publication opportunities in the February edition.
Till then, Keep Watching the Skies!
