When the Moon Gives Way sees grieving parents embrace the solace of a werewolf child.

Here’s a snippet:

For days we talk about how to explain the boy. For days we watch him, feed him, play with him. Our hearts reluctant to open, creak and groan at first. I tell people about an estranged sister, an unexpected visit. Fletcher smiles and laughs, hugs hard, and we give way to love again. Fear clings like late-spring frost, taking us back to the lake, to browning muscari and pollen-gold catkins on the trees.
