Kathleen Bell

Kathleen Bell is a poet and fiction writer who recently stopped teaching in the Creative Writing department at De Montfort University. Her publications include at the memory exchange (Oystercatcher, 2014), Do You Know How Kind I Am? (Leafe Press, 2021) and Disappearances (Shoestring, 2021). She co-edited the anthology Over Land, Over Sea: poems for those seeking refuge (Five Leaves, 2015).

‘Driving to the moon, with ghosts’ is a mournful dreamscape that explores the relationship of the Moon’s alien body to planet Earth. Here’s a snippet:

But you’re beside, behind me. I feel
safe. Gravity lessens, oxygen slips
away. You don’t need breath, and this
past year I’ve learnt to do without.
