Like many indies, SCP had an exciting year lined up of book fairs, conventions and live performances – where we looked forward to meeting YOU, our readers. So what’s a Space Cat to do with an extended quarantine to play in? Firstly, we stoked up the warp drive to speed our plans for an e-book release of our first title. Desert Moonfire: The Men Who Raced to Space will be available to buy as an ebook from Friday 29th May. With our destination set, we couldn’t resist a little shop dressing to boost crew morale. On Monday 18th May next week, we’ll reveal our new online shop with lots of goodies to browse. Look carefully on Monday and you’ll find a certain cat lurking amongst the merchandise. Do Not Stroke! But our friendly Ship’s Engineer would love some feedback on the new quarters she’s rigged up, so get in touch.
All this is part of our countdown to a live launch for our first ever Space Cat e-book. We hope you’ll join us for the fun on our Twitter feed 5–6pm on Friday 29th May. As well as the chance for a Q&A with the author and publisher, there will be competition prizes, goodie bags and discounts to bag. Before then, look out for short poem readings from Desert Moonfire, by author Siobhan Logan. We’ll be releasing a new audio-file each day this week at 5pm. And here’s a taster as she reads the title poem, Desert Blooms:
Of course, you don’t have to wait for the e-book release. There’s plenty to browse in Space Cat’s new shop already, with print books, poem cards and swanky tote bags with our distinctive logo. You can order these anytime for delivery by our hard-working posties. You can also find Desert Moonfire reviews and a recent interview with Siobhan Logan about her Space Race writing journey over at Conversations with Writers website.
So that’s our week mapped out. Hope you’re keeping busy and keeping safe. Wave to us from your porthole, why don’t you? And as we cruise though this crazy universe dodging the meteors, take time to be star-struck again.
