Uncharted Constellations Contributors

In this space-themed anthology, twenty writers take the last Space Race as a launch pad to propel us far into the future. Between the strangeness of space and the loneliness of long-distance missions, you will find the human heart refracted in a myriad of ways throughout these Uncharted Constellations.

Deborah Tyler-Bennett is a European poet and fiction writer, with nine books and chapbooks of poetry published by various presses including Smokestack and Shoestring. She regularly performs her work.

James Walton ‌is‌ ‌published‌ ‌in‌ ‌many‌ ‌anthologies,‌ ‌journals,‌ ‌and‌ ‌newspapers.‌ ‌He‌ ‌is‌ ‌the‌ ‌author‌ ‌of‌ ‌ four‌ ‌widely‌ ‌acclaimed‌ ‌collections‌ ‌of‌ ‌poetry. He‌ ‌was‌ ‌nominated‌ ‌for‌ ‌The‌ ‌Best‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌Net’ ‌2019,‌ ‌and‌ ‌is‌ ‌a‌ ‌Pushcart‌ ‌Prize‌ ‌2021‌ ‌Nominee.‌

James Worrad lives in Leicester. He shares a house with 2 cats and another writer. His space opera series, Feral Space, was published by Castrum Press. He’s been published by Flurb, Daily Science Fiction, Newcon Press and Obverse Books.

J.K. Fulton grew up at Scottish lighthouses and now lives in Leicester. His stories have appeared in Shoreline of InfinityLeicester Writes Short Story AnthologyBest of British Science Fiction 2018 and Dark Scotland. His novels include The Wreck of the Argyll.

Katherine Franklin has been writing fiction since the age of 8 but spends most of her time these days writing code. Despite (and perhaps because of) having a physics degree, she prefers writing the softer, fantastical side of science fiction.

Kathleen Bell is a poet and fiction writer. Her publications include at the memory exchange, Do You Know How Kind I Am? and Disappearances. She co-edited the anthology Over Land, Over Sea: poems for those seeking refuge.

Mark Goodwin was brought up on a farm in South Leicestershire. There are various ways in which he is transported by the moon – seeing its pale blue hull from a mountain top on an icy winter day is one of his favourites

Mary Byrne is an artist as well as a writer. In 2019, she won the Leicester Writes Short Story Competition. In 2020, she was shortlisted for the H.E. Bates Short Story Prize, and in 2021, Highly Commended in Frome Festival Short Story Competition.

Michele Witthaus is based in the UK. Her pamphlet, From a Sheltered Place, was published in August 2020 by Wild Pressed Books. She was the 2020 winner of Leicester Writers’ Club’s Ena Young Award for Poetry.

Paul Rudman has been interested in Psychology since his first degree in the 1990s. He is an active member of the Leicester Speculators writing group and has had 10 stories published. His stories explore unusual psychological states.

Rebekah Tobias was born in Manchester. She discovered the world through teaching overseas in places as diverse as Addis Ababa and Vienna. Happily married, she is mum to an assorted collection of children and grandson.

Richard Urwin is a semi-retired embedded software engineer. When he’s not writing speculative fiction, he is playing role-playing games or programming micro-controllers. He might get back into hill-walking if he can find any flat hills.

Rob Bray lives and writes in Leicestershire. A member of Leicester Writers’ Club, he has had work published in The Best of East Midlands Writing anthology and two stories shortlisted in the Aurora short story competition.

Rod Duncan is the author of twelve books. His debut novel, Backlash, was shortlisted for the New Blood Dagger of the Crime Writers’ Association. His 1st science fiction novel, The Bullet-Catcher’s Daughter, was shortlisted for the Philip K. Dick Award.

Sarah Doyle won the WoLF poetry competition and Brexit in Poetry 2019, and was a runner-up in the Keats-Shelley Poetry Prize 2019. She was highly commended in the Ginkgo Prize for Ecopoetry and in the Forward Prizes 2018.

Simon Fung is a scientist by day and a writer on Wednesdays, mostly. He should stop saying he’s new to writing, because he’s been saying that for the last few years. His writing has appeared in Leicester Writes and Shoreline of Infinity anthologies.

Teika Marija Smits is a UK-based writer, illustrator and freelance editor. Her debut poetry pamphlet, Russian Doll, was published by Indigo Dreams Publishing. A fan of all things fae, she is delighted by the fact that Teika means fairy tale in Latvian.

Tim Bombdog is Leicester’s very own post punk poet combining hard hitting revolutionary poetry with a mix of sentimentality, wit and humour. His work is rooted in a certain time and place, but is challenging, unique, and of interest to all.

From Anglesey, of English and Russian-Ashkenazi extraction, Yevgeny Salisbury is a transman who only rarely writes explicitly on gender. He has had short stories in three anthologies and was once longlisted for the Fish Poetry Prize.
